The story

Hi, I'm Ian.

My financial education started young, watching my parents navigate the 2008 housing crisis. The lesson stuck: paperwork and trust are not the same thing, and the numbers have to be yours.

I took the accounting route. UCLA, then audit at KPMG and PwC, then a decade at Canvas Ventures as Manager of Finance, closing the books on venture funds and sitting across from valuations every quarter. I have an active CPA license and I still use it.

Real estate came slower. Years of analysis paralysis, then a San Jose duplex house hack in March 2022, an improvement 1031 into a Santa Clara six-unit with an ADU, and a flight to Cincinnati that turned into Maple, a six-unit in Norwood. I was a 2,300-mile landlord with no local network, so I built one: a Cincinnati investor community that now counts 200+ members, and an annual field trip that brings out-of-town investors to walk the city with the people doing deals here.

In June 2024 I left corporate to do this full time. A year later I co-founded Three Little Pigs Investment Services with Slocomb Reed, a vertically integrated firm with its own property management, renovation and HVAC teams. I sponsor the deals, serve as CFO across the TLP companies, sit on the property-management board, and keep the books through MyREIBookkeeper, the bookkeeping firm I started for investors who were tired of accountants who had never seen a rent roll.
